Robotic Algorithms and Controls Engineer

Precision Robotics is the home for next generation surgical robots, developing new technologies that support the future of precision surgery for personalised healthcare and quality of life improvements. Headquartered in London, the company also has offices in Hong Kong, bringing together talents in both engineering development and clinical translation. We are looking for people who are dedicated to join us for this exciting venture in the fast-growing global market for robot assisted minimal access surgery. 

This position is responsible for algorithms and controls required to support the surgical platform developed by Precision Robotics. Skills required will include robot kinematics, control systems, and a solid understanding of mechanical systems. You will implement control algorithms and test them with the instruments designed by the mechanical team.

Skills & requirements:

  • - Masters in Computer Science or Electronics Engineering with a minimum of 2 years experience in control of mechatronic systems, or a PhD in a related field.
  • - Experience in hardware and software integration of complex electromechanical systems.
  • - C/C++ and MATLAB programming skills. Knowledge of Python is a plus.
  • - Knowledge of serial-arm robot kinematics.
  • - Experience with haptic rendering is desirable.
  • - Experience writing multi-process and multi-threaded software with practical knowledge of how this software can fail.
  • - Demonstrate excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • - Ability to collaborate across disciplines and work independently when necessary.

Any of these below would be a great add on:

  • - Flexible Robot Experience (e.g. continuum robot, soft robotics)
  • - Knowledge of classical and modern servo control systems
  • - Agile Experience

Key responsibilities:

  • - Implement motion control and create safety monitoring algorithms based on the given specification.
  • - Collaborate cross-functionally with other R&D teams.
  • - Implement safety-critical designs that detect errors, fail safely and have the necessary redundancy to minimise risks.
  • - Design, and implement interfaces for data exchange with other systems/modules.
  • - Create documentation and pursue intellectual property.

Mechanical Engineering Internship

We are looking for a highly motivated student with an engineering or equivalent technical degree and interest in robotics, to join our dynamic and growing team for a paid 10-week internship project, commencing in September 2019. Key responsibilities:

  • - Mechanical part design and simulation using Solidworks for the components used within the produce of Precision Robotics or the parts for testing purpose.
  • - Conduct testing and assembly activities during the product development.
  • - Writing technical report for testing and assembly.
  • - Perform other activities as required by the company and ensure the activities are conducted in line with regulatory compliance and the company's requirements

Senior Software Engineer

Requirements:

  • - 2+ year experience in software engineering, algorithm implementation.
  • - Bachelor's degree in computer science, computing, electronics and related.
  • - Expert in C++ programming in Linux.
  • - Experience on robotics and real-time communication is a bonus.
  •  

Key responsibilities:

  • - Writing software programming for Precision Robotics products;
  • - Liaise with hardware and high-level software engineers to ensure seamless integration;
  • - Develop, review, test, debug software to ensure correct functionalities;
  • - Analysis and improvement on software efficiency;
  • - Constantly reviewing with Line Manager to improve the quality of Company products at the design & development stages;
  • - Support software QA for the company products;
  • - Provide documentation for certification;
  • - Provide related documentation for regulatory and certification requirements;
  • - Perform other activities as required by the Company and ensure the activities are conducted in line with regulatory compliance and the company's requirements.
